Search For the Great Escape

Why do you read? Me? I read for the great escape from the mundane everyday things. Many shudder when they find out that I would rather have my nose buried in a book instead of watch a television show or movie. I say that my imagination is usually better. Besides when have you ever seen a movie that was based on a book that was anywhere near as good?
I have been an avid reader since a young age because of my grandmother. I can remember staying with her because my mom worked and grandma always had bags of books. I read my first Harlequin at the age of nine. Of course back then they were very tame with a little bit of hand holding and maybe a kiss or two if I was lucky! LOL Boy am I glad that things have changed.
I write erotic romance because we all need passion in our lives. I refuse to use the purple prose to describe what is a natural act between two consenting adults. Or maybe more than two. LOL All I know is that sex is a beautiful way to communicate the love between two characters. We learn more when we see them at their most vulnerable state. And who isn't vulnerable when they are stripped naked.
Some of my favorite authors are Linda Lael Miller, Catherine Coulter, Linda Howard, Johanna Lindsey, Diana Palmer, Janet Evanovich, Leigh Greenwood, Heather Graham, Susan Andersen, Karen Rose, Lori Foster, Shannon McKenna, Lucy Monroe, Ana Leigh, Janelle Denison, and of course there are the more erotic authors that hooked me on a whole new genre of steamy romance. Jaid Black, Lora Leigh, J. W. McKenna, Shiloh Walker, Sherri L. King, Jory Strong, Cheyenne McCray, Mary Wine, Rhyannon Byrd, Sarah McCarty, Emma Holly, Nicole Austin, Elizabeth Lapthorne, Jacci Burton, Lorie O'Clare, Jan Springer, Annie Windsor, Reese Gabriel, Titania Ladley, and Lauren Dane. What can I say? LOL I read a lot!!!!
So who are some of your favorite authors? Someday I hope to see my name on the top of someone's list, be the reason they write! That is my goal!

Lacey,
That's a great list! I would add Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She hasn't written a hero I didn't fall in love with!!

I've not read her Delia! What would you reccommend as my first?

You might want to locate some of the "oldies"--Rosemary Rogers, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Laura London aka Tom and Sharon Curtis, and especially Morning Glory by Lavryle Spencer which is the #1 best book I've every read. Windflower by Laura London is #2. There are tons of others out of print...anything by Elsie Lee.

Hey Anny! I've read Kathleen Woodiwiss and Rosemary Rogers, isn't she the one who did the whole Jennie/Steve series? Lost Love, Last Love? or something. I've not read the others though. I'll put the two books you mentioned on my list though! Thanks for sharing them with me!

When I was a kid I read to escape - I guess I still read for that same reason.

Ohhhh - favorite authors...one of my favorite topics. :)

Let's see...Suzanne Brockmann, Virginia Kantra, Lora Leigh, Jaid Black, Emma Holly, Dara Joy, Lynn Kurland, Lynsay Sands, Jennifer Armintrout, Lori Foster, (I know I'm missing a bunch) Angela Knight, Susan Sizemore and oh yeah, this one chick - not sure if you've heard of her, but she writes a really hot romantic suspense - Lacey Thorn. Love Gil, but I can't wait for Griff!

My favorite by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is FANCY PANTS from the early nineties. You will absolutely love that hero. And I agree with Anny on MORNING GLORY. I would also recommend LaVyrle's TWICE LOVED or VOWS.

Thanks Bronwyn! Everyone wants Griff's story! It will be a blast to write but I have a few more to get in before I start his. I'll keep you posted!

Wow, well thank you! It's amazing to be in such fabulous company.

I love SEP - she's just a brilliant author and she takes characters I'd hate if anyone else wrote them and makes me love them and root for them. Jenny Crusie is up there, Nora as JD Robb, Eileen Wilks - so many!

Your mention is much deserved Lauren! Never doubt how great you are!
